Next weekend, I will be in Sacramento to celebrate my mom's birthday!!! It's going to be sort of a bittersweet visit because mom is no longer mobile, she's bedridden. My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's 20 years ago and she probably hasn't recognized me in about 10 years and she probably hadn't recognized her grandkids in 15 years. She remembered her husband (and our dad) up to about 5 years ago but that's not really shocking to us because they were married almost 10 years before they had their first child so they'd had a solid relationship and memories way before we came along.
We will be flying out on Friday, Dec.12th and mom's birthday is Sunday, Dec. 14th and we'll be flying back to San Diego on Monday.
My son is coming on this trip and he wanted to make the trip because he knows that it may be the last time that he sees her alive.
I will not be blogging while I am in Sacramento because I won't be taking my MacBook with me as we will be celebrating mom's birthday. This is going to be a tough trip and we are all praying that mom's makes through to another year!
