I saw a girl post a great Kroger scenario for the Betty Crocker cake mix which is on sale for $0.99 when you buy 5 participating items.
However, when I checked the price cake mix price in San Diego, it's a whopping $2.49 on sale.
Again, I think Kroger is using the West Coast to subsidize the food prices in other states so that they don't feel the pain of higher food prices and the people in those states continue to support initiatives and laws that are not in their best interest.
You must understand that Kroger and the folks over at General Mils (the owners of Betty Crocker) are working in tandem to create an illusion in Kroger Country that they are not being impacted by the higher tariffs and the implementation of AI in their factories so they can fire/layoff a big chunk of their workforce.
In the meantime, they are using the good folks of California, Washington state and Oregon to subsidize all this foolery.
Trust when I say that there will be an ugly economic downturn in 2026 because the feds have been fudging the economic numbers. We can't have record number of car repossessions, house foreclosures, business closures, thousands upon thousands of the Tech Bros being fired, thousands upon thousands of federal workers being fired, military service members being arbitrary being kicked out of the military, nurses and pharmacists being let go and lets not talk about all the Amazon, UPS and FEDEX works being laid off...and on top of it these people got to pay back this schools loans. Next year is going to be a disaster , economically and nobody is going to be safe or shielded from the drama that's coming.
I am telling you that the banks are in trouble and we cannot bale them out, this time because the US already owes trillions of dollars in debt and one of the reasons is because our politicians - Republicans and Democrats - created laws so Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Larry Ellison and a bunch of other billionaires you've never heard of did not have to pay taxes. It's not normal. Americans will be clutching their pearls in 2026.
I won't be buying any Betty Crocker products (unless it's a nice money maker). Ordinarily, I am not a big baker but I am well aware that we can make cakes from scratch.
