Last week, one of my readers had left a comment something about a 1099 form and Shopkicks and I remember from a couple of years ago that Ohio Valley Couponer was having major issues with Shopkick wanting his social security number to send him a 1099 tax form. You can watch his video HERE and he went back and forth with them for quite awhile BUT he was doing all the walk-in kicks and scan kicks and I think he was being kind of a Karen by always contacting Customer Service that he didn't get his kicks and they kinda threatened Ohio Valley Couponer (OVC) with the 1099 form. I AM NOT SAYING MY READER did the same thing. I used to watch OVC regularly but over time I found myself not liking his videos and I unsubscribed from his channel.
I said all that to say that the 1099 question triggered me to go to my Shopkicks account and cash out my points.
I normally cash out the rebate apps, at least, once a month but sometimes, I will let the points kinda sit there in the account because I am waiting for other gift cards to come in my email. For example, if I've requested gift cards from Swagbucks and Fetch, I will wait before requesting a gift from Shopkick.
I think it was, last month or it could of been the month before, I requested a gift card from Fetch and I think it was like maybe a week before I had realized that they still had not sent me the gift cards but they had deducted my points. I quickly reached out to Customer Service and they asked that I give them 24 hours to resolved the issue but they notified me about two hours later that the gift cards were available.
Remember back in December 2024, when there was that brouhaha involving Shopkick stealing our points from the Old Spice deal?
The Coupon Community was ready to burn everything down over those stolen points.😂
Looking back we can laugh about that incident now but at the time, the community banded together and we flooded Shopkick and Old Spice social media pages with negative comments about the incident and we won because Shopkick reversed their decision.
It takes a village to work together for a common cause to get things done the right way.
I am approaching their $600 threshold- tax info says threshold for 2025 is $2500- they do not respond to direct questions on this issue as of today- surprised you have not reached this.. an expert that you are- no way to call them?
ReplyDeleteDid leave a voicemail to Trax- thank you
Believe or not, according to my Shopkick redemptions, YTD I've only redeem $145 but looking back through my redemptions for 2025, I haven't done a lot of Shopkick deals.
