Walmart and Kroger believes that the people of California should pay exponentially higher prices for groceries so that the people in Kentucky, Iowa, Georgia, Mississippi etc. who voted for politicians that likes tariffs and making the West Coast pay these incredibly high prices for hot dogs so these other states can have lower priced products.

Money for Federal Workers who Furloughed or Working without Pay

 

I think most of you know that I was a federal employee, I was initially hired as a GS-4 as a Transportation Assistant which was and still is barely above minimum wage position.  My first two years of working for the federal government, I made so little money that the Army Base I was working at had a holiday program that if you were a GS-4 or below, they'd give to you for free, a frozen turkey and a box of other goodies for your Thanksgiving dinner and they'd do it again for Christmas.  Some military bases have like an organization on base that help folks and I want to say it's a volunteer organization and they got the money from somewhere and they civilians employees and military member with families, a free frozen turkey with fixings. I only qualified for it my first two years and then I started getting promotions.

Anyways, if you are a federal work who furloughed or working without pay, go to https://feea.org/shutdown/app/ and fill out the application for assistance.  Most GS-5 and below will qualify for the grant.

The city has been planning this walkable neighborhood concept in Point Loma and Hillcrest/North Park neighborhoods for, at least, 20 years that I am aware. Supposedly, they are bringing the trolly down Park Blvd and some parts of University Ave and some how connect it to the Mission Valley transit station at the mall. Normally, we'd do project like this in 3 phases and there would be three teams of people assigned for each phase. This is going to be a massive project which means that it has lots of moving pieces so they would need a program manager, a project manager, design manager, planners, architect, environmental engineer, fire protection engineer, civil engineer, electrical engineer, landscaping engineers, contracts, finance, 2 or 3 admin folks, they will have a like three engineering techs. Once the money is appropriated, the first phase team will stand up.  Normally, it's the project manager that select his/her team members.  I suspect that city will do this as a Design-Bid-Build project as the city has not done a project like this previously.
