My brother almost got scammed out of $500😵
From the very beginning, I was not a fan of Facebook. For me, there is something nefarious about Facebook that I cannot quite put my finger on and so I pretty much stay away from it. However, my youngest brother and various cousins on both sides of my family love Facebook. My brother is always telling me "Oh, cousin Kathy said this or that on Facebook."
One day, a couple of weeks ago, my brother texts me saying that our cousin, Jackie, had messaged him on Facebook that she knows a way for him to get $10,000 for being a veteran through a federal agency and I was really excited him to get the money.
A few days go by and my brother send me a picture in a text that shows a box. He also says that our cousin, Jackie asked my brother to send her $500 to cover the postage for the paperwork he'd need to fill out for the $10,000.
I IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS A SCAM. Even if it wasn't a scam, I would tell my cousin to go kick rocks.
My brother then proceeds to tell me that on Facebook, someone had messaged him saying that they were his favorite cousin blah, blah, blah and how he could get $10,000 free from the government and that she'd send him a link to sign up but that the next thing he knew is our cousin want to send him a package for $500.
The thing is that I could see in the picture with the box that it had my brother's full government name on box along with his address.
The only reason my brother is not out of $500 is that he decided he needed to run it by me before sending money. Honestly, I am so grateful that he didn't loose any money.
But the reason I am writing this post because late last week there was a viral story about a lady who lost $50,000 to scammers. As soon as an unknown person on the phone tells me not to call my attorney, regardless, if they say that they're from the police department, FBI or Special Forces, I am hanging up the phone in their face and calling my attorney. Supposedly they were telling the lady that she was involved in a legal matter...but she can't call her attorney nor husband?
There's an old saying "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear." and another old favorite saying that I love "If it doesn't sound right then it's not true."
I get scammer that text me and I just block them. The stuff that they say is so ridiculous and implausible that I cannot deal. Anything that involves money, you have to get a second opinion from someone you trust because you should know that the FBI don't want your $50,000 when the feds can print as much money as they like.
Watch out for the scammers before the scammers get you!

New changes to the Merryfield app
This morning, I received an email from Merryfield app and the most important thing that they had to say was the following:

I don't know what Merrfield's original mission statement was but I thought it was something like healthy or food for you foods and because they are now struggling to make ends meet, it appears that they are now wiling to work with any brand including McDonald's!

Thank goodness, this Kroger-Albertson acquisition has been stopped dead in it's tracks! Without competition, especially in Southern California, we will get nothing but high prices and excuses about inflation is the reason for the high prices! As far as I am concern, this deal is over.

Ibotta's New Unique Redemption Offers?🤔
I had saw a YouTuber talk about how Ibotta had changed it's definition of a unique offer this before Ohio Valley Couponer posted his video and she'd confirmed that she'd gotten credit for buying multiples of the same item. However, Ibotta's definition about "unique offers" appears to want people to get excited about nothing. If there is a freebie or Money Maker offer then you may get excited only if the bonus allows for multiple redemptions of the same item to count for the bonus.
In the first sentence of Ibotta' s What are unique offers? it says the following:
Some bonuses will allow multiple redemption offers to count towards progress through 04/30/24. If a bonus allows multiple redemptions, it will be in the bonus details.
I will probably continue to only make multiple redemptions of the same product, in the same transaction, only if it's free and it's something my family wants or needs or if it's a money maker.

This morning, I got up with the roosters and I went over to Vons to grab my FREE Coke Spice 20 oz and the manager was kind enough to give me her FREE Coke 20 oz, too!!! Unfortunately, they didn't have the free cold medicine and the pharmacy was closed.
Another old friend reached out to me on Friday and we talked on the phone for 3 hours which pushed back our dinner by 3 hours!🤣 I think we are going to have a full moon tonight.
After we finally had dinner, I looked through my receipts and I submitted my receipts to P&G Everyday to towards the 750 points threshold needed for a $5 gift card. You can answer surveys or buy P&G products to accumulate points.
A few days ago, I was lucky enough to find a $85 receipt at Vons and I submitted that receipt to Fetch Rewards and I earned 800 ($0.80) points and the receipt two P&G products. I was hoping that there would be a participating Ibotta offer on the receipt but there wasn't.
Back in week 1 or week 2 of January, I reached out to Chobani requesting coupons, as we had done previously but I received no response nor coupons. Is the free Chobani coupon ride over?
There will be a Smart Source and Save coupon inserts in the newspapers or depending upon where you live, it may be delivered to your mailbox or out in your drive way or lawn.

Get your Target Price Adjustments
Over the Presidents Day Holiday weekend, Target had shoes, purses and tees on 20% off sale with was great for me because last week, I had a $5 off $25 Purchase coupon that I had used and the Dad Sandals that I had to order online to get a size 6 and the great thing was that Target delivered the sandals to my home within 24 hours of me placing the order.
When I buy at Target, I always go back into the Target app, on Sundays, to see if the item(s) is now on a better price so I can get a price adjustment.
If you have your Target gift cards stored on the Target app then your purchases that you've paid with a Target gift card or the Target Red Card are stored on the app and you just go to the Service Desk with your phone and say "I'd like a price adjustment for the shoes that I purchased 3 days ago that is now on 20% off sale." The clerk has some sort apparatus that they scan the bar code of the digital receipt and they give you the adjustment on a Target gift card and/or Target Red Card, it takes less than a minute for them complete the request.
Now, every once in awhile, you'll run into an employee that wants to save Target from greedy customers like myself that have the audacity to ask for a price adjust like I did when I went into the store. As soon as I said that I wanted a price adjustment, she started by saying "I'm not sure that I can do that?" I said, "Of course! Please, call your manager, I'll wait." Suddenly, she remembered what she needed to do for a price adjustment. I've worked retail at Marshall's and Mervyn's so I typically go overboard to be nice to retail employees.
In all, I got back $10.45 so well worth my time to get the price adjustment!
