Plotting and Planning

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!!! HELLO, CHERYL!!!

Back in August 2023, my youngest brother had come to San Diego to see me because he had just bought a house and his plan was to work a bunch overtime to pay off the house early BUT he wanted to physically see me in person to see if I was really okay because seven months earlier his nephew, my son, had called my brothers early in the morning to say that I was in the hospital in a coma and the doctors were sure if I was going to make it or not.

As we all know, I made it. However, a few days after his return home his only child died in a car accident.  The whole was reeling in grief and to be honest with you, it was like a double grief at the loss of my nephew and almost loosing me, months earlier.

About a month, after burying my nephew, Marcus, my brother went back to work and it so happens that a co-worker mentioned that he needed to move closer to work because his commute was killing him.  My brother had the extra room but he asked my advice as what he should charge John for the room.  Initially, he wanted to charge him $300 per month and I said absolutely not. I asked my brother where can he live for $300 per month in Sacramento?  I can see you charging family $300 but not a coworker.  I recommended that he charge John $900 per month and you give him a receipt each month.  He doesn't have to pay first and last rent nor a security deposit and it'll be a win-win for the both of you.

John and my brother get a long wonderfully for a year and half and then he decides to move to Texas. My brother was able to have company while grieving the loss of his son, and he was able use the money John was paying him towards paying on his house.

About three months ago, an acquaintance reached out to my brother saying that he needed a room and my brother offered him the same deal as the previous roommate.  This is also around the time that my dear brother got laid off from his job and the other job opportunity didn't come to fruition.

I said all this to say that sometimes it feels like we are getting nothing but rotten lemons thrown at us and we don't know how to stop the rotten lemons. God kept showing up for my brother by sending different people his way. Sometimes, opportunities are right in front of our faces but feel sorry for ourself instead of being thankful.

Yeah, them eggs are super expensive but the next thing we know, Ibotta is offering us an egg rebate every Friday in February. Oh, the sodas too expensive, let's make away for you to have free or uber cheap sodas. My goodness, they cutting people off of Food Stamps/EBT/School Lunch, let's offer cheap snacks.

It's bad but it's not the end of the world. We got this. I am still grabbing free food items for donations because I am so thankful that my life has purpose and I am able to give.

I am always proud to say that I don't carry any advertisements on this blog because it was never my intension to make money off of this blog. I can flip on the switch anytime to start google ads I just wanted to share the deals I found with others.

There will not be coupon inserts in the Sunday newspapers. It’s Saturday …enjoy your day! On Sundays, I take the day off from blogging.
