The Ibotta is watching 👀

Thanks goodness that Nick left the comment below because when I finished my bonuses over the weekend, I quickly withdrew my money. However, I forgot to submit one receipt so I still have $1 in my Ibotta account!  It seems that Ibotta has this propensity that once the Thanksgiving bonuses are over, they want to investigate and audit your account for any irregularities.

I would highly recommend that once you reach $20 to withdraw your money.

Ibotta will make you jump through every hoop there is to mankind to keep from paying you due to a discrepancy.  A reader, Nick, says the following:

Heads up (and not good news): Wifey’s brother Mick (always fun at holiday parties when we can’t tell with all the noise going on if someone is saying “Nick” or “Mick”) just got a slew of Ibotta reversals. It was from items purchased mostly at Ralph's where there was the disclaimer about the offer not being valid if a coupon was used but Ibotta paid it anyway. They went back quite a ways, Mick said in a text he could barely scroll that far back in his history to see what they were even talking about.

So now Mick’s account has been sitting at zero, with everything since Saturday going straight to pending. He said he is more than due in pending what the reversals total, but it never shows anything ever being added.

Nothing personal in business. But just be ready, the Ibotta is watching.

  1. I do have an update from Mick. but first want to make a separate comment.

Any or all of these apps can leave you in the lurch at any point. You’re not dealing with an actual person who you can sit down with and resolve issues. You are dealing with online reps who can do whatever they please, knowing that it’s next to impossible for you to have any power to influence the outcome. That’s why I hate glitches and support tickets. And Swagbucks has been really testing Wifey’s and my patience lately with misreading receipts and discrediting purchases for which we both take the time and effort to carefully plan.

Anyway, I touched base with Mick this morning, partly because I was very curious what had happened to his Ibotta crediting after all the reversals.

He said that those purchases did finally all post, every single one. BUT, and as Ms. B. wisely implied, having an account balance does NOT mean there’s actually money in your pocket. You have to be able to withdraw those funds as Ms. B. successfully did. And I’m not sure at this point if he did or even can do that (I’ll clarify when I find out).

After I hung up the phone I thought to myself, “How frustrating!”. Your bank balance could be a million dollars but you’re still broke if you can’t access it.

I did learn one important thing: Wifey and I will stay far away from any and all IBOTTA AND Swagbucks offers that say “This purchase cannot be combined with coupons for the same product”. EVEN IF THERE ARE REPORTS OF PEOPLE STILL BEING PAID. We now know it doesn’t mean Ibotta won’t later claw the money back later and cause all sorts of headaches. Makes it more of a hassle since now you have to read every detail of every offer. But Wifey and I do not like drama and we plan on keeping it that way.
