A reader, Gavin, says the following:
There is a bonus wyb 3 different Nabisco crackers on Ibotta. I bought 1 Wheat Thins, 1 Good Thins, 2 Triscuits. Get back $2 rebates (.50 cents per box) plus $1 bonus.
The final price is $0.41 or $0.14 each!!! Again, you can put the crackers to the side until Thanksgiving week, which is next month, when you'll friends and family over to celebrate Turkey Day! You do not have to have a large gathering to do this deal because $0.14 for a box of crackers is unheard of in these inflationary times.
Heck, take them to your job for the next potluck or the next long SWOT Analysis you and your team got to sit through. 🤣
Wheat Thins $1.97 x 4 = $7.88 - $5/4 DQ - (2) $0.50 IB = $1.88 or $0.47 ea
Triscuits $1.97 x 4 = $7.88 - $5/4 DQ - (2) $0.50 IB = $1.88 or $0.47 ea (Thanks, Gavin!)
Good Thins $1.97 x 4 = $7.88 - $5/4 DQ - (2) $0.50 IB = $1.88 or $0.47 ea (Thanks, Gavin!)
Nabisco Ritz Crackers 7-13.7 oz $1.97 - $0.50 IB = $1.47
Thanks, Gavin!
There’s another way of looking at it: since there are roughly 50 crackers in a box they’re about a penny each!
ReplyDeleteNotice what I just did. I just expressed something that’s a major marketing concept. If something is “negative” like cost, then make the number sound as low as possible.
So, only a penny each! Or, since most people are calorie conscious, only 8 calories each!
This is why charity ads you see on TV will say “only 67 cents a day”. It’s still a $20 a month donation but 67 cents a day sure sounds a lot less, doesn’t it?
The opposite is also true. If something is considered positive, like a reward, then marketing wants to make that number sound as large as possible.
So, when Fetch gives you $1 back on an item, they don’t give you 1, or 10, or even 100 points. They give you 1000 because it just sounds bigger. It makes you feel like you’re getting something a lot more valuable than it actually is.
And that’s why 25,000 frequent flyer miles in your account on most airlines will only fly you a fraction of that as a reward in terms of actual distance. A big reward number, but what does it actually get you?!! 😉
