It's officially Tax Day!
If you have any type of Federal Student Loans go to https://studentaid.gov/ and click on "Enroll in the an Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan" and start the process, according to my brother, it only takes a few minutes. If you've forgotten your username/password info, the Department of Education and Social Security will do some sort of validation and it takes a day to verify who you.
Basically, you only need to know your own name, social security number and my brother said it was super simple. He only had like $5,000 in student loans.
If you are or was a "Public Employee" which is anyone that worked for the feds, state, county, city, military, fire fighter, police, health, teacher, mental health, homeless, church etc. you especially need to be signed up by April 30th because after that date, you'll have to wait longer to get your student loan paid off.
In the state of California, you do not get taxed for your student loan pay off!!!
If you have private student loans, you'll need to consolidate all of your loans and the website will help you consolidate your loans into one loan so that you get your loan paid off.
Again, you must sign up for this debt relief plan.
