The Fresh Pass is blocking your Blessings

This morning, a reader, had mention that they were unable to find/see the $1 zip advantage even after spending the Food Adventure coupons.  My initial thoughts was that I had to wait a week or two before I was able to see the zip advantage.

Anyways, in between time, I went Albertsons to take advantage of a $3 off $30 coupon that was on my Albertsons account and let they me tell you that they've made some software improvement updates.  For example, previously when I had a $3 off $30 coupons, it was a 50/50 chance that the zip advantage wouldn't work, however, this shopping trip, all of the coupons played nicely together including the infamous yogurt coupon.  I bought 5 of the Yoplait yogurts and the $1 came off...in fact, some how I ended up paying $0.88 for 5 yogurts.

After my transaction, and as I was walking back to my car and looking at my receipt, I saw at the bottom there was a $50 Fresh Pass coupon and it triggered my memory to recall that I had read on Slick Deals, it was being reported that the Fresh Pass is blocking the zip advantage. A person had used all their Food Adventure coupons on both accounts but one account did not have the Fresh Pass and they could see zip advantage. However, the account with Fresh Pass, he/she was unable to see the zip advantage.

Those of you have have the Fresh Pass will have to do a cost analysis if it worth it for you to keep it.  With the zip advantage you save $16 per month and with the Fresh Pass you get $5 and your Grocery Rewards do not expire.

  1. Hi Ms B...I commented a couple of weeks ago that I sure hoped that the $1.00 zips would come back either after spending our Flavor Adventure winnings or Sept 30 (whichever came first!)...but I was equally afraid that all the remaining 'goodies', which I probably won't use, would still block the zips. Since the $5.00 monthly prize goes on for a year it's a tough call. Normally don't use all four zips...definitely not the O-Organics and most of the time not the bakery, but yes to the frozen and produce. And yes...my other account (from which I didn't win a single thing!) can still see and load the $1.00 zips with no problem...the winning account can't even see them using the Lake Tahoe or Sacramento zip codes, so somehow they're blocking them.

    1. Most definitely, they are blocking the $1 zips from those that have the Fresh Pass. I use the O Organics bc I buy the O Organics beans and tomatoes sauce for when I make chili during the colder weather. I don't use the bakery as much, although, I do buy the large croissants for when I feel like making fancy sandwiches on the weekends.

    2. That's a great use for the $1.00 O-Or zip...I think the tomato sauce or the beans run around $1.50, so getting it for $0.50 is great. The bakery items are so pricy these days that getting $1.00 off doesn't seem worth it.

    3. Obviously, the Bakery one was much better when it also included the bread loafs and pastries from the bread aisle, Also, check the bakery case, I was able to get three croissants for $.66 each and the pre-packaged croissants are like $4.99 for 4 in a package. Honestly, I probably use the Bakery about once every other month.

  2. Yea!!... Finally I received the $1 zips and used one the am! I do have the Fresh Pass on both my acct and my DH's acct. Hopefully this isn't a one time deal, will see what happens next week. In the past I have used the Bakery Q on day old pastries, love it when they have the day old 4 pack box of mufffins for $1.99 ...so I am able to get them for .99. Great when put in the toaster oven to crisp up then slather with a bit of butter.
Also I too got the IB rebate on the Coke/Coffee Sat Sampler purchase.

  3. News Flash! As of yesterday, October 1, I was able to access the $1.00 zips (finally!) using 96157 (Tahoe)...first time I've seen them in the Safeway coupon area since winning the Fresh Pass. I was hoping once Sept 30 was past that it'd revert back to the old way. I already tried to use them via an online order and they work...good, I like using the $1.00 produce every week.

  4. In our local Vons/Albertson stores the day old bakery items are over in the clearance section. Have gotten some wonderful deals there. I have never seen day old bakery items at my local Pavilions though.

    1. The Albertsons has a clearance table in the back near the meat dept and the larger of the two Vons near me has the clearance table in front of floral near the entrance of the store. The second Vons is a small store and I've never seen a clearance table in that store.
