We have a lot on our plate

We have have our everyday regular degular lives and we are getting ready for the drama of empty store shelves like during the COVID lockdowns.  From what I've read, the US government can't just walk back and undo the tariffs debacle. I still remember when Bill Clinton got the NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) signed by Mexico and Canada and it was a big deal.  The legacy news organizations talked and talked about but honestly at the time I didn't understand the significance of the agreement and how it impacted me.  I didn't know that American jobs were being outsourced to other countries.

Now, we are in wait mode until all of the store shelves are empty.  Whether we are ready or not it's going happen.

$89 Tariffs on a $64 Temu Order🤯

I now see why retailers are not ordering stuff to put on their shelves because they know most Americans will not be willing to pay those higher prices.  The prices will more than double with the tariffs.

The meats are gone 🍗🥩🍖

I ran into Vons to pick up some salad and they've put shades crossed the fresh meat section because the meats are completely gone.  San Diegans stocked up on the meats!  The sausages and bacon is still available.  The area shaded in the picture above is the fresh chicken but the other fresh meats are shaded as well.  I guess they are using shades when they run out of products.

I did not go to the Vons down the street nor did I go to Ralphs, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Sprouts or Smart & Final because I was at the grocery stores all last week.

I didn't clip the $5 STEM IB offer

I just realized that there is a $5 STEM IB offer but I had only activated the $10 offer.  I am just saying what I did on my Albertsons trip.  I did check the product with the IB scanner but only the $10 came up for me...however, I was chatting it up inside the store with Mr. Man because he was asking me all kinds of questions the insect trap so I wasn't 100% focused on what I was doing.

Albertsons tells suppliers to eat the cost of tariffs😂

Vons/Albertsons: FREE+MM Stem Flying Insect Zapper 1un/ 4 Ct 🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️🔥

The insect zapper is going to be great for the upcoming summer and getting those dastardly flies and fruit flies.

Vons and Albertsons stores have the Stem Flying Insect Zapper 1un/ 4 Ct  on sale for $15.99 and there's a $10 digital coupon which makes the device $5.99.  Plus, there's a $10 Ibotta offer which makes the purchase FREE + $4.01 Money Maker!!!

I used my $5 FreshPass which brought down the price to $0.99 and tax and I got back the $10 Ibotta offer!

There is some kind of larger STEM unit that is on sale for $29.99. The box that I got is like 6 inches tall and on sale for $15.99.  The $10 Ibotta offer works for the larger unit and the smaller unit!  The $10 coupon works for both also.

If you are going to celebrate Cinco de Mayo next weekend, romyysaves on IG posted the Kroger deal shown above but if you are in California, the Old El Paso beans are cheaper at Walmart at $1.88.

Plotting and Planning

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!!! HELLO, CHERYL!!!

So.... yesterday, I parked in front of my building (I live in a multi-story condo) and I was carrying the toilet paper that got from Ralphs to the side door and I was approached by three elderly looking ladies asking me "Are there any Spanish speaking families in this building?"  I said, "Why do you ask? This is privately owned property."  I had the door opened by then and I slammed the door in her face.  All of my neighbors speak English to me, I don't know if they speak other languages or not and I have not asked and I don't want to know.

It is officially spring and in a normal year, we'd see cyclical products on sale like allergy products, cleaning supplies for spring cleaning...and we'd normally see products for Cinco de Mayo but since Cinco de Mayo is on a Monday most folks will probably celebrate next Saturday or Sunday.

About two weeks ago, at the 805 & El Cajon Blvd, in San Diego, they closed the Spanish Market and it was the only one in my area. There's not a Spanish Market in any of the neighborhoods downtown, Hillcrest, University Heights, North Park, South Park, Kensington, etc.  I am saying all this to say expect more neighborhood/ethnic market closures.  Smaller stores always survived on smaller profit margins and with tariffs, they won't be able to survive the higher costs, they will just close down without notice.

There will not be coupon inserts in the Sunday newspapers. It’s Saturday …enjoy your day! On Sundays, I take the day off from blogging.

NBC News - Product shortages and empty store shelves loom

I just want to reiterate about the upcoming product shortages that is being reported by NBC News, you can read the story in its entirety HERE.  I know that if people don't see or hear about the shortages from the legacy media like NBC, they don't believe it.  We have the weekend to go out and buy a few things because once those shelves become empty there's going to be pandemonium and long lines.

If your baby survives on crackers everyday, I'd suggest that you stock up on the crackers. If Mr. Man has a beer or two every Saturday, you'd better stock up.  Stock up on the favorite items, you may not want to necessarily stock up 12 weeks on canned green beans or mac & cheese.

I know that a lot of people cannot afford to run out and buy two or three months worth of non-perishable foods.  Do the best that you can and it's all going to work itself out.

The government is going to have to figure out a way to resolve this problem.

One of the Best Kept Secrets in San Diego

When I see that an influencer or anyone else is visiting San Diego, they tend to go downtown to the Gas Lamp, Little Italy, Hillcrest and North Park etc. and San Diego has some of the worst downtown parking because for some odd reason they don't really have any parking garages.  North Park is one of the few neighborhoods that has "a" parking garage and it's relatively cheap and it's at 30th & University.  If you know, you know!

However, if you ever come to San Diego, my recommendation is that you go to Mission Bay Park which is owned by the city of San Diego.  It's well maintained, there's lot of city workers out there keeping that park in tip top shape.

Anyways, there is plenty of parking at Mission Bay Park unless there is a special event.  However, I would avoid going to Mission Bay Park on long holiday weekends like Memorial Day or the 4 of July because you got to get there early in the morning to grab a table or a fire pit and get parking.  There are plenty of restrooms and drinking fountains at the park.  There are children's parks throughout with slides and swings.  Mission Bay Park is not a dog park but there are lots of dog parks in San Diego.

You do have to bring your own food and drinks, if you plan to picnic at the park.

I will say it again that the park is very well maintained, it is right off of the I-5 freeway.  It's like 10 minutes from downtown, 10 minutes from North Park, Fashion Valley Mall which is a designer mall, about 15 or 20 minutes (due to traffic) from Ocean Beach, it's about 20 or 30 minutes to the Mexican border depending on the time of day you are going and Coronado is probably about 15 minutes.

I am not a native San Diegan but if I was coming to San Diego on vacation, I personally would not stay in the Mission Bay nor Point Loma neighborhoods with the exception being I would stay at the Mission Bay Resort, if you can afford to do so.

Honestly, if you are coming to San Diego you should stay on Hotel Circle just google "hotels on hotel circle san diego ca" and it's probably the best hotel deals in San Diego.  Hotel Circle is very close to Mission Bay Park, Fashion Valley Mall, Old Town San Diego, restaurants, movie theaters, downtown and you can catch the San Diego site seeing tours from Old Town.

Native San Diegans love Balboa Park and it's not far from Hotel Circle but can be a issue other, however, if you take the San Diego site seeing tours from Old Town, you can get off at Balboa Park and walk around and catch the next tour bus.

San Diego does have Indian Casinos that you can visit and we are about a 6 hour drive from Las Vegas. We are about an hour and half or two hours south of Los Angeles depending on the traffic.

If you are looking for your next vacation spot, you may want to head to San Diego!🏖️
