My trip to the Dentist

A couple of weeks ago, I went on a quest to find a new dentist because my previous neighborhood dentist had retired and the person that took over his dental practice...I just did not like her.  What I've learned over the years, if you have a weird feeling about an individual or your intuition is telling you not to have any dealings with someone just stay clear on them - no harm, no foul.

I had a cavity that needed to be filled but it wasn't hurting.

I actually did a Reddit search for the "best dentist in San Diego" and I chose a dentist based on the feedback of Redditors.  I would say that this dentist is unique as to how he runs his business and it's in an old strip mall and I assume that is how he keeps his prices very reasonable.  His consult price was $35 which is an unheard of price in San Diego, it's like a 1970's price.

Anyways, I had scheduled my filling for yesterday (Tuesday), it's a one dentist office which I love and he had the latest and greatest dental technology in his office.  He meticulously explained every step at the very beginning and along every step of the way.  However, we ran into an unexpected speed bump.

When he was drilling my tooth, he found that my body had decided to use my gum tissue to protect my nerve so I wouldn't feel the pain from a tooth ache.  Upon my initial visit and secondary visit, the dentist kept asking was I feeling any pain, any sensitivity of hot or cold items and I kept telling him no.  My gum grew into that cavity protecting me from any pain.

The doctor and I are about the same age and he said, "In all my years of dentistry, I've only seen this occur, a couple of times before seeing you.  It's very rare what your body has done."

The dentist ended up doing only a temporary filling because he wanted to see how my gums surrounding my tooth was going to react.  I go back to the dentist on Tuesday and if all is well, he's going to do the permanent filling and call it the day!

Everyday, I pray to God for good health for me and my family because health is wealth.
