A lot of people think that I am a show off because I have had multiple careers and I can talk to a lot of different subjects but I learned ago to keep my mouth shut unless I am going up for a particular job because people get on that hate train. One of my very first professional jobs was as a transportation assistant and I was trained to clear shipments for the container ships down at the Port of Oakland. This was back when the Bay Area had a large military function. They sent me to school to learn what I needed to learn...and that initial job eventually catapulted me to San Diego. Every job, I could always say "Oh, they sent me to Oakland Army Base for X, Y, Z". They sent me to Naval Base Treasure Island. Oh, they sent to Presidio San Francisco. I volunteered for a lot of opportunities because it got me out of doing boring work.
Anyways, our ports are their own ecosystem. It's the reason why the significance of the Boston Tea Party (those darn tariffs that King George of England was charging us on the price of tea.) popping off that helped start the American Revolutionary War.
In my opinion, the ports have even more significance today than it did back in 1773 because this time, the enemy is the Tech Bros., Billionaires and Corporations because they've literally outsourced our jobs, food, clothing and our way of life.
The video above has very good information. I think it's better to know what's going on than to put your head in the sand.
