Yesterday, I was shocked when I walked into the Walmart and it felt like a ghost town. I should have known by the parking lot that there weren't going to be a lot of people in the store but there is a secondary parking lot so I was thinking that people had parked there.
It was kind of weird walking around Walmart with no people in the store. The aisles had no one. Usually, I have to maneuver between workers trying to restock shelves and other shoppers and their shopping cart but I had the aisles all to myself.
A lot of people have been laid off and maybe that's the reason no one is at the Walmart or maybe it's because it's because of the high prices?
I haven't really noticed it there or at grocery stores....where I've really seem it is at fast food restaurants, usually Carl's Jr is empty, totally empty. And the last time I was at Taco Bell, it was the same thing. Absolutely no one in line or in the dining room. Then I look at the menu prices and realize that very few people want to pay way over $10.00 for a fast food meal. These places won't last long at this rate. Not certain why they didn't figure this would happen once they raised their minimum wage to $20.00/hr.
ReplyDeleteNow, that you've mentioned the fast food restaurants, there haven't been much traffic there. However, sit-down restaurants are still bustling in San Diego and Sacramento. The Carl's Jr has AI taking orders but it isn't good at taking order and it's been taking orders for about 6 months. In fact, I asked the cashier if the AI take orders in different languages and he told me that the AI only speaks English, no Spanish, Russian, etc.
